Privacy Policy

Cairune is an independent personal project that provides personal finance tools and life management features. It is not operated by a registered business entity.

Account information (when you sign in via Google): your name, email address, and profile photo.

User-entered data (when you use authenticated features): financial records (expenses, income, subscriptions, investments, salary history, net worth data), reading list and watchlist preferences, and sticky notes.

Waitlist: if you join the waitlist, we store your email address and signup date.

Analytics (only with your consent): anonymous page views and usage patterns to help us improve the product. No personal data is included in analytics.

Public tools: our free tools (tax calculator, EMI calculator, bank locator, etc.) process all data entirely in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit any data you enter into these tools.

We use your data solely to:

• Provide and maintain the Cairune service
• Authenticate your identity and secure your account
• Display your personal data back to you within the app
• Improve the product based on anonymous, aggregated usage patterns (only with your consent)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. We do not use your data for profiling or automated decision-making.

Cairune relies on the following third-party services:

• Supabase — database hosting and authentication. Your data is stored in their PostgreSQL database infrastructure.
• Google OAuth — used for authentication. We receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google when you sign in.
• Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage analytics, only activated with your explicit consent.
• Open Library API — provides book metadata for the reading list feature. No user data is shared with Open Library.

Each of these services has their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with Row Level Security (RLS) enabled, ensuring that each user can only access their own data.

All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. API routes are protected with bearer token authentication.

While we implement reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed from our systems.

Waitlist email addresses are retained until the waitlist is no longer needed, after which they will be deleted.

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data stored in Cairune
• Export your data in a machine-readable format
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Withdraw consent for analytics at any time

Cairune uses minimal browser storage:

• Authentication session — stored in your browser by Supabase to keep you signed in.
• Analytics consent preference — stored in localStorage to remember whether you accepted or declined analytics.

We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or fingerprinting techniques. Firebase Analytics is only activated after you explicitly consent.

Cairune is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

This privacy policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) as applicable.
